Know before traveling

Beaches are Pebble: Most Croatian beaches have pebbles or rocks instead of sand, so pack water shoes for comfort.

Cash is King: The local currency is euro. Keep in mind that not all places accept credit cards, especially in smaller towns and at local markets. We were even asked to pay one of our stays in cash. Paying cash also gives you power to negotiate.

Tap Water is Safe: Croatia’s tap water is clean and safe to drink, so bring a reusable bottle to stay hydrated.

Croatia Must-haves

Mistakes to avoid

Not Shecking Visa Requirements: Croatia is part of EU, but not its neighbours. If you want to visit Bosnia and Herzegovina or Montenegro, bring your passport and make sure you have the necessary visa.

Traveling During Peak Season:
Traveling in June–August means higher prices and bigger crowds. Consider visiting in spring or fall for a more relaxed trip.

Eating and Drinking Only in City Centers:
Prices are much higher in the old town centers and main streets. Look for KONOBA in the nearby villages for better value and more authentic food.

“In Croatia, every stone tells a story and
every wave sings a song.”
